About The Position

As a Laboratory Technician in Parasitology at IDEXX, you will perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. Extensive training is provided for this role. This is a full-time position with excellent day-one benefits. You will use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment. You will perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples. In this position, you will be working in the Parasitology Department, setting up and running lab tests, then reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests.
  • Experience operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and / or clinical diagnostic analyzers).
  • Positive attitude and energy to support colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Concentrate on details and work reliably and precisely.
  • Great sense of team spirit and responsibility.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements: standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability – close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Awareness of potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-, 3- or 4-year degree in a Science-related field.
  • Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) experience and education.
