Requirements

  • Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods.
  • Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
  • Perform moderately heavy physical labor (large dogs, bags of litter, pet foods, etc).
  • Ability to sympathetically and patiently attend to sick, scared and injured animals.
  • Ability to learn to administer medications and to recognize abnormal conditions.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure each pet has their own room or suite for downtime.
  • Facilitate Group-Play environment during the day for pets who pass the temperament test.
  • Provide one-on-one time with kennel assistants for pets who do not enjoy group play.
  • Keep individual pet rooms/suites, yards, and wards clean and sterile.
  • Perform cleaning duties including vacuuming, mopping, and doing laundry.
  • Feed and medicate boarding pets.
  • Watch and pass quizzes for the Dog-Gurus series ('Knowing Dogs 101 & 201') to ensure staff are aligned on dog behavior.
  • Handle kitties individually in their separate suites and play-room.
  • Bathe and groom dogs according to hospital and client standards.
  • Interact with pet owners.
