About The Position

Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is hiring an experienced Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Technician to support our high-acuity ER/ECC team in Marietta, GA, with expansion into a new specialty hospital in Dunwoody, GA in Fall 2026. We are seeking a skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician who thrives in emergency and critical care environments and wants to grow within a rapidly expanding specialty veterinary network. This is a high-acuity, non-entry-level role designed for technicians who thrive in fast-paced emergency environments, rapid triage, and critical patient stabilization. You’ll work alongside emergency clinicians and specialty teams, managing a wide variety of urgent and life-threatening cases. Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in: Emergency, ICU, or high-volume veterinary practice
  • Strong background in: Patient handling and clinical nursing skills
  • Experience with: Venipuncture, catheter placement, and emergency procedures
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credentials (highly valued, not required)
  • Prior experience in: Emergency or specialty hospital setting
  • Familiarity with: Triage protocols and emergency workflows
  • RECOVER CPR certification
  • Advanced training in ECC or anesthesia

Responsibilities

  • Perform rapid triage assessments of incoming patients
  • Identify and prioritize life-threatening conditions
  • Obtain accurate patient histories and relay critical information to clinicians
  • Ensure efficient patient flow through the ER
  • Assist in stabilization of trauma cases, respiratory distress, toxicities, shock and critical illness
  • Perform venipuncture and catheter placement
  • Initiate fluid therapy
  • Administer emergency medications
  • Support urgent procedures and diagnostics
  • Assist with sedation and anesthesia for emergency procedures
  • Monitor patients using ECG, pulse oximetry, capnography, and blood pressure monitoring
  • Prepare patients for surgery or ICU transfer
  • Assist in CPR and code events (RECOVER guidelines preferred)
  • Respond rapidly and effectively to emergency situations
  • Maintain composure and efficiency under pressure
  • Work closely with emergency clinicians, ICU and specialty teams
  • Ensure seamless case handoff and continuity of care
  • Communicate clearly in fast-paced, high-pressure situations
  • Maintain accurate, detailed medical records
  • Ensure compliance with ER protocols and safety standards
  • Maintain treatment areas, crash carts, and emergency equipment
  • Support a highly organized and efficient ER workflow
