About The Position

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) is seeking an organized, compassionate Surgical Coordinator for its specialty surgery team. The coordinator connects clients, patients, and the surgical service, helping cases move smoothly from consultation through recovery. The role is based at PVESC’s specialty hospital in Falmouth, Maine. The coordinator arranges surgical consultations, procedures, and scheduling; communicates with clients about treatment plans, estimates, medications, and post-operative care; prepares discharge instructions, medications, and medical records; and supports clients throughout the patient journey in coordination with the surgical team. This is a full-time role with two schedule options: Saturday 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Tuesday 8:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m., Wednesday 8:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m., and Friday 7:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; or Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Some holidays are required. Pay is $22–$34 per hour, based on experience and licensure.

Requirements

Veterinary experience is required.
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.

Nice To Haves

Surgical or specialty veterinary experience is preferred.
Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant background is preferred.

Responsibilities
