About The Position

Veterinary Specialty Hospital Sorrento Valley is opening a new Cardiology Department by the end of 2026, offering an exciting opportunity for full-time Veterinary Technicians and Assistants to collaborate with dynamic veterinary professionals. At VSH, the mission is to advance the veterinary profession through leadership in medicine, education, business, and promotion of the human-animal bond. The Cardiology department will focus on diagnosing and managing complex cardiac conditions, improving patient outcomes, and supporting patients and their families. This role involves assisting doctors with patient appointments and treatments, providing client communication and education, reviewing treatment plans and post-procedure care, and monitoring patients during and after procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in the veterinary field as credentialed technician in a progressive hospital (for RVT)
  • Strong understanding of sedation and general anesthesia (for RVT)
  • Strong communication skills, organizational skills (for RVT)
  • Accuracy in calculating and delivering anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIs (for RVT)
  • Assist in obtaining patient histories and triaging patients as needed. (for RVT)
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical procedures (for RVT)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the veterinary field (AVA or VA certification a plus) (for VA)
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment (for VA)

Responsibilities

  • Assisting doctors with patient appointments and treatments including but not limited to radiographs, ECG’s and lab work
  • Providing outstanding client communication and education
  • Reviewing patient treatment plans and post-procedure care with clients
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures to ensure their safety and comfort.
  • Ensure all cardiology equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and readily available for use (training provided)
  • Ability to assist technicians and doctors as needed
