About The Position

Oak View Animal Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant for a part-time position. This role is ideal for someone with at least 1 year of hands-on VA experience who enjoys a fast-paced environment and takes pride in excellent patient care. The schedule is primarily afternoon shifts with occasional mornings and weekends. The clinic is a well-established, progressive, fast-paced 3 doctor mixed animal practice located in Northwest Arkansas, offering comprehensive services including Preventative Care, Surgery, High Speed Dentistry, In-House Diagnostics, CR full body and digital dental radiology, and Medical and/or Vacation Boarding.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of hands-on Veterinary Assistant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques, instrument care, and surgical suite protocols
  • Comfortable safely handling animals of various sizes and temperaments
  • Skilled in safe pet restraint
  • Comfortable working around clinic sights, sounds, odors, and potential bites, scratches, or contagious diseases
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and committed to cleanliness
  • Able to follow detailed instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
  • Calm, compassionate, team-oriented, and able to multitask
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to assist with other hospital duties as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Surgical or dental prep experience is a plus
  • Anesthesia monitoring experience is a plus
  • Veterinary Assistant certification or related training preferred, but not required
  • Desire to grow professionally and expand veterinary skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surgical and dental suites with instruments and supplies
  • Sterilize and maintain surgical and dental equipment
  • Restock supplies and maintain inventory
  • Clean and disinfect procedure areas before and after procedures
  • Assist with patient restraint and monitoring during induction and recovery
  • Support anesthesia preparation and monitoring setup
  • Maintain accurate sterilization and equipment prep logs
  • Assist doctors and technicians with appointments as needed
  • Provide quality care to hospitalized and boarding patients
  • Assist with clinic closing duties
  • Follow all safety and infection control protocols
