About The Position

Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (NIVES) is hiring an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their Emergency team on 3rd shift. This role is for individuals who are calm under pressure, thrive in fast-paced environments, and want to be part of a highly skilled emergency team, making a meaningful impact in patient care.

Requirements

• Previous veterinary experience required
• Strong patient handling and restraint skills
• Ability to stay calm, focused, and efficient in high-pressure situations
• Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
• Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced emergency setting

Nice To Haves

• ER experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist technicians and veterinarians with emergency exams and treatments
• Safely restrain patients and support handling during procedures
• Prepare and maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supplies
• Support patient care, including cleaning, feeding, and monitoring comfort
• Collect samples and assist with basic lab tasks as directed
• Maintain accurate records and support communication within the team
• Help ensure a clean, organized, and efficient ER environment
