About The Position
VCA Old Marple Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to work as an ER Exam Room Tech at its multi-doctor, 24-hour emergency and general practice in Springfield, Pennsylvania. The Veterinary Assistant helps maintain a positive, low-stress atmosphere for patients and clients and contributes to patient care, client communication, and clinic operations. Some listed procedures can be learned through training.
Requirements
- Experienced Veterinary Assistant.
- Some veterinary medical knowledge or background.
- Comfort talking with clients and making phone calls.
Responsibilities
- Obtain histories for sick and well patients.
- Restrain cats and dogs and handle patients safely and effectively.
- Talk with clients and make phone calls.
- Perform toenail trims and ear cleanings; training can be provided.
- Draw up and administer injections; training can be provided.
- Draw blood; training can be provided.
- Provide client education and care.
- Collect and process laboratory samples.
- Prepare and administer medications.
- Maintain medical records.
