About The Position
Walkertown Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their team. This full-service hospital provides the latest in veterinary medicine, equipment, and technology, including a state-of-the-art facility with a complete in-house laboratory, 2 digital radiology units, a modern surgical suite, and a class IV therapy laser. The hospital serves patients in Walkertown, Kernersville, Walnut Cove, Winston-Salem, and surrounding areas of North Carolina. The role involves a variety of tasks related to animal care and client communication, with opportunities for training and career development.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2-years experience as a Veterinary Assistant
- Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
- Must be able to properly restrain pets
- Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
Nice To Haves
- Proficient in sample collection
- Proficient in obtaining medical histories
- Proficient in processing laboratory tests and radiographs
- Proficient in anesthesia monitoring
Responsibilities
- Pet restraint
- Triage incoming patients
- Collection and analysis of lab samples
- Diagnostic imaging
- Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
- Administration of medications
- Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
- Surgical preparation and assistance
- Anesthetic management
