This includes but is not limited to administering oral or topical medications, as allowed by NY state law; setting up equipment for treatment rooms and surgery, restraining animals, lab work, cleaning of hospital; interacting with the public and answering phones. This is a full-time position with a salary of $19/hr.

Requirements

  • Ability to interact with the public
  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand, lift, reach, stoop, carry, push and pull for at least 8 hours a day.
  • Lifting of packages and large bags of food 25-40 lbs
  • Lifting and holding animals of all sizes, including large ones
  • Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to restrain animals
  • Ability to attend staff meetings and training classes
  • Ability to understand the needs of the animals
  • Ability to read body language of animals

Responsibilities

  • Feeding
  • Restraining animals for the veterinarian
  • Escort clients and pets into exam rooms and taking history.
  • Drawing up vaccines and starting consultations
  • Restraining animals for the veterinarian or LVT
  • Feeding animals as appropriate with Doctor’s instructions.
  • Cleaning and making sure that animals are clean and all areas are free of odors
  • Medications (as allowed by law)
  • Grooming, as needed, nail trims, etc
  • Record keeping concerning vaccinations and routine care of the animals
  • Animal’s exercise and bathroom trips
  • General wellbeing of every animal under your care
  • Laundry
  • Interact with the public and provide client education.
  • Other duties include restocking, cleaning, assisting other staff members, computer work, paper work, answering phones, taking payments, and scheduling appointments as needed.
