About The Position

Park Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care is an AAHA-accredited, full-spectrum small animal hospital seeking a motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. We pride ourselves on a supportive environment, high-quality medicine, and have been voted Best of Durham 10 years in a row. 🐶🐱

An environment that facilitates growth and learning: our VA team leaders have over 25 years of experience and is focused on monthly and quarterly goals, offering regular 1:1 communication and in-depth training.

Our clinic provides: ultrasounds, orthopedic surgeries, laser therapy, dental x rays, tech appointments and other surgeries

We maintain strong AAHA standards — only RVTs perform anesthesia and surgical duties.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of Veterinary assistant experience required
• Strong customer service skills
• Comfortable handling dogs & cats
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
• A dependable and adaptable team player with strong communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Cornerstone a plus

Responsibilities

• Animal restraint (Fear Free & Cat Friendly preferred)
• Assist with exams, treatments, and procedures
• Collect samples (blood, urine, fecal) & run in-house diagnostics
• Perform radiographs
• Prepare exam rooms & maintain cleanliness
• Administer medications under DVM/RVT supervision
• Client education & communication
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Assist with pharmacy and inventory
• Support hospitalized patient care
