About The Position
Varina Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their team. Since 1992, the clinic has been dedicated to providing high-quality veterinary care in a supportive, team-oriented environment. They are looking for a candidate who is confident in a clinical setting, enjoys fast-paced work, can manage appointments efficiently, provide excellent patient care, and contribute wherever needed.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant
- Comfortable working independently while also thriving as part of a team
- Confident collecting patient histories, drawing blood, placing IV catheters, and taking radiographs
- Strong communication and client service skills
- Positive attitude with a willingness to help wherever needed
- Passion for delivering compassionate, high-quality veterinary care
Nice To Haves
- Experience assisting with surgery, dentistry, and laboratory diagnostics is preferred
Responsibilities
- Starting appointments and obtaining accurate patient histories
- Preparing patients for examinations and treatments
- Collecting blood samples and running in-house laboratory tests
- Placing IV catheters
- Taking high-quality diagnostic radiographs
- Assisting with patient restraint using low-stress handling techniques
- Preparing vaccines and medications
- Assisting with surgical and dental procedures
- Monitoring hospitalized patients and providing nursing care
- Filling prescriptions and educating clients on medications and discharge instructions
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment
- Working closely with the entire medical team to provide exceptional patient care
