About The Position

Join our veterinary hospital as a full-time Veterinary Assistant and become a teammate of our animal healthcare team! Must be open to working any day of the week including Saturdays and Sundays.

Requirements

Strong animal handling skills with the ability to safely restrain patients of all temperaments for examinations and procedures.
Knowledge of diagnostic imaging positioning and laboratory diagnostics.
Proficiency with venipuncture including IV catheter placement and blood draws.
Experienced with medication administration (PO, SQ, IM, and IV) and vaccine administration.
Knowledge of prescription medications to effectively instruct clients with home care instructions.
Excellent attention to detail in monitoring patients and maintaining medical records.
Effective communication skills with team members and clients.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
At least one year of experience in an animal hospital completing the details listed above.
Proficient computer skills for maintaining electronic medical records.

Nice To Haves

Anesthesia monitoring experience preferred but not required.
Associate degree in veterinary technology or continuing education in veterinary science a plus.

Responsibilities

Handle, restrain, comfort, and reassure animals of all temperaments.
Assist with treatments, diagnostics, and surgeries.
Monitor patients.
Maintain records.
Maintain cleanliness, organize facilities, and ensure a sanitary environment.
Relay patient updates and ensure care continuity among the team.
Communicate care plans, instruct home treatment to clients, and guide medication use.
