About The Position
Lovet Pet Health Care is hiring a Veterinary Assistant for Westbrook Animal Hospital. Under a doctor’s direct supervision, the Veterinary Assistant supports medical procedures and helps create positive experiences that build clients’ trust and loyalty. The role includes communicating with clients about their pets’ care, answering questions, explaining treatments, and obtaining consent for treatment plans. It also involves delivering customer service, maintaining medical records in practice management software, performing clinical tasks, maintaining equipment, and helping keep the hospital clean.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
- Comfort interacting calmly and compassionately with furry, fuzzy, feathered, and scaly animals.
Nice To Haves
- Certified veterinary technician (preferred).
- Associate degree in veterinary assisting (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Assist the doctor with medical procedures under direct supervision.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with clients about their pet’s care, answer questions, explain treatments, and obtain consent for treatment plans.
- Deliver customer service to clients and their pets.
- Manage medical records using practice management software.
- Dispense medication; perform x-rays and blood draws; place catheters; obtain samples; provide treatments; operate diagnostic equipment; administer vaccines; and restrain animals when necessary.
- Set up, break down, clean, and maintain medical equipment.
- Assist with cleaning all areas of the hospital.
