About The Position

Londonderry Animal Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to work with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide animals with high-quality, compassionate care. The role includes assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries; handling animals; preparing clinical areas; performing basic laboratory work; administering medications and vaccinations under veterinary supervision; and helping maintain medical records and client communication. The Veterinary Assistant also helps care for animals and keep the clinic clean, stocked, and sanitary. This is a full-time position averaging 30–35 hours per week. The hospital is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Pay is $16.75–$17.50 per hour, based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.

Requirements

Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is required.
Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe, sanitary environment.
