About The Position

Wedington Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join their team. This role involves a variety of tasks to provide comprehensive care to patients. The hospital is a well-established, progressive general practice offering a wide range of services including wellness, preventative care, urgent care, emergency and critical care, surgery, internal/external medicine, advanced diagnostics, and boarding. The Veterinary Assistant will be responsible for pet restraint, triaging incoming patients, collecting and analyzing lab samples, performing diagnostic imaging, managing and providing nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases, administering medications, communicating treatment plans to clients, assisting with surgical procedures, and managing anesthesia. The role requires the ability to withstand unpleasant environments and potential exposure to animal-related hazards. The hospital offers opportunities for virtual and hands-on training and continuing development.

Requirements

Minimum of 1-year experience preferred
Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
Must be able to properly restrain pets
Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset

Nice To Haves

Proficient in sample collection
Proficient in obtaining medical histories
Proficient in processing laboratory tests and radiographs
Proficient in anesthesia monitoring
