About The Position

Pet Emergency Treatment Urgent Care is seeking a skilled and motivated Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist to join our team! This hybrid role combines hands-on patient care with client service at our busy emergency and urgent care hospital. You'll be a key part of our medical team, supporting doctors and patients with excellent nursing care, while also ensuring our clients have a welcoming, compassionate, and efficient front desk experience. At Pet Emergency Treatment Urgent Care, part of Ethos Veterinary Health, you'll join a hospital that has spent 40 years setting the standard for emergency care in Alaska. Our team practices progressive emergency and specialty medicine with advanced diagnostics, including in-house stem cell production and therapy that few hospitals offer. In this hybrid role, you'll build both clinical and client service skills in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Technician
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with compassion, efficiency, and flexibility
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills; able to balance client interactions with patient care
  • Familiarity with office software, phone systems, and scheduling preferred
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care

Nice To Haves

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician preferred, not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist with consultations and treatments under the direction of the attending doctor
  • Provide surgical and nursing care, including catheter placement, medication administration, and monitoring hospitalized patients
  • Perform in-house lab work (sample collection, analysis, reporting)
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety at all times
  • Communicate clearly with clients about their pet's status and progress
  • Answer incoming calls and emails; handle client inquiries with professionalism and empathy
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow
  • Greet and check clients in/out, process payments, and maintain accurate client records
  • Actively listen to client concerns and offer appropriate support and solutions
  • Help manage a busy lobby environment with both clients and their pets
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture
