About The Position

Rice Creek Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to provide skilled care to patients and exceptional service to clients. The role combines clinical assistance and client-facing reception responsibilities. The hospital is a full-service veterinary facility offering medical, surgical, and dental care, with equipment including digital radiography, in-house laboratories, and ultrasound. It emphasizes preventative health care, responsible pet ownership, work/life balance, and a supportive, respectful, team-oriented culture. The schedule is four days per week, 7:45 AM to 6:00 PM, with no weekend hours.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is required.
• Technical know-how in disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Greet clients and pets, complete sign-in, verify appointment details, and help clients feel informed and reassured.
• Escort clients to exam rooms and relay relevant information between clients and clinical staff.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and support a safe and sanitary environment.
• Answer client calls about appointments, hospital inquiries, medication refills, and other requests.
• Make outbound calls for appointment reminders and follow-ups.
• Understand common vaccination protocols, basic laboratory tests, common diseases, veterinary terminology, and pet behavior.
• Help maintain cleanliness and organization to support a positive client experience.
