About The Position
Bedford Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join their dedicated team. This role is vital to the medical team, supporting veterinarians and technicians in delivering top-quality care to patients with a wide range of needs. The day-to-day will involve a mix of clinical tasks, client communication, and patient handling.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant (required)
- Confidence in restraint, lab work, and assisting with procedures
- Weekend availability (some shifts)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong multitasking ability and attention to detail
- Familiarity with preventative care, surgical support, and clinic flow

- Proficient in lab processing, radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring

Responsibilities
- Safely and effectively restraining pets using low-stress techniques
- Triage and intake of incoming patients
- Collecting and processing lab samples (blood, urine, fecal, etc.)
- Assisting with radiographs and diagnostic imaging
- Administering medications and monitoring patients
- Supporting nursing care for hospitalized and medical cases
- Preparing patients and instruments for surgery; assisting in procedures
- Monitoring patients under anesthesia
- Communicating treatment plans and updates to clients with compassion and clarity
