About The Position

Saint Francis Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join their team. This is a fast-paced, 5-doctor small animal practice offering a wide range of services including preventative care, holistic medicine, emergency and critical care, surgery, digital x-ray, ultrasound, and an in-house laboratory and pharmacy. The hospital operates Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm, with no on-call or overnight shifts. Technicians are paired with a dedicated doctor and function as part of the treatment team. The hospital is located in Augusta, GA, offering a good work-life balance with access to various recreational activities and amenities.

Requirements

Minimum of 1-year experience preferred
Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
Must be able to properly restrain pets
Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Responsibilities

Pet restraint
Triage incoming patients
Collection and analysis of lab samples
Diagnostic imaging
Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
Administration of medications
Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
Surgical preparation and assistance
Anesthetic management
