About The Position

Caring Hands Centreville is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality animal care and customer service. The role supports animals throughout their stay at the hospital and involves assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries, as well as helping maintain a safe, clean clinic environment. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM, with rotating Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The advertised pay is $16–$24 per hour, based on experience and skillset. Caring Hands Animal Hospitals are large, well-equipped, AAHA-accredited facilities with convenient hours six days a week and an open-door policy. Their full-service hospitals provide computerized patient records, digital radiography, and an in-house laboratory.

Requirements

Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting.
Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
