Requirements

  • Experienced Veterinary Assistant with 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience as a Veterinary Assistant
  • Love animals and bring a calm, steady presence to every situation
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients and teammates
  • Stay organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment
  • Cool under pressure and comfortable in a fast-paced hospital environment
  • Eager to keep learning and growing in your role
  • A team-first mindset and the willingness to pitch in wherever you are needed

Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients into the exam room, obtain thorough patient histories, and build meaningful relationships while ensuring the veterinarian has the information needed to provide exceptional care
  • Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures while ensuring their comfort and safety
  • Safely restrain patients during examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments
  • Assist veterinarians and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments, surgeries, diagnostics, and patient care
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
  • Collect and process laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and fecal specimens
  • Monitor hospitalized and post-operative patients, promptly communicating any changes in condition to the medical team
  • Educate pet parents on medications, treatment plans, preventative care, and at-home instructions to support the best outcomes for their pets
  • Maintain accurate medical records, documenting patient histories, treatments, and communications
  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain exam rooms, surgical suites, instruments, and patient care areas to ensure a safe, organized hospital environment
  • Collaborate with the entire veterinary team to create an exceptional experience for both patients and their families
