About The Position

Wedington Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join their team. This role involves a variety of tasks to provide comprehensive care to patients. The hospital offers services including Wellness Services, Preventative Care, Urgent Care, Emergency & Critical Care, General & Orthopedic Surgery, Internal/External Medicine, Digital Full Body and Dental X-Ray, Dedicated Dental Suite, Ultrasound, Full In-House Laboratory, In-House Pharmacy, Cold Therapy Laser, Medical and/or Vacation Boarding, Grooming & more. The job description also notes that the role may involve exposure to unpleasant odors, noises, bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases. Requirements

Minimum of 1-year experience preferred
Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
Must be able to properly restrain pets
Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset

Nice To Haves

Proficient in sample collection
Proficient in obtaining medical histories
Proficient in processing laboratory tests and radiographs
Proficient in anesthesia monitoring

Responsibilities

Pet restraint
Triage incoming patients
Collection and analysis of lab samples
Diagnostic imaging
Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
Administration of medications
Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
Surgical preparation and assistance
Anesthetic management
