About The Position
Lovet is hiring a Veterinary Assistant for Norterra Animal Hospital. Under a doctor’s direct supervision, the Veterinary Assistant supports medical procedures and helps create positive client experiences and build trust with clients and their pets. The role includes communicating with clients about pet care, educating them on treatments, answering questions, and obtaining consent for treatment plans. The assistant also performs a variety of clinical and hospital support tasks, including administering treatments and vaccines, running diagnostic equipment, maintaining medical records and equipment, and cleaning hospital areas.
Requirements
- Comfort interacting calmly and compassionately with furry, fuzzy, feathered, and scaly animals.
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Certified veterinary technician.
- Associate degree in veterinary assisting.
Responsibilities
- Assist the doctor with medical procedures under direct supervision.
- Communicate with clients about their pet’s care, answer questions, explain treatments, and obtain consent for treatment plans.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients and their pets.
- Manage medical records using practice management software.
- Dispense medication, perform x-rays and blood draws, place catheters, obtain samples, provide treatments, run diagnostic equipment, administer vaccines, and restrain animals when necessary.
- Set up, break down, clean, and maintain medical equipment.
- Assist with cleaning all areas of the hospital.
