About The Position

Bean Blossom Animal Clinic is a full-service small-animal veterinary practice located five miles north of Nashville, Indiana. The clinic has served the community since 1966 and focuses on medical, surgical, and dental care for its patients. The Veterinary Assistant supports patient care, diagnostics, nursing, surgery, anesthesia, and client communication. The position is part-time or PRN (as needed). Training and continuing development opportunities are available through virtual and hands-on interactive programs.

Requirements

Must be able to properly restrain pets.
Compassionate, calm, and a team player.
Able to multitask and communicate strongly.
Self-starter with a desire to continue advancing knowledge and skills.
Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises and may be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of Veterinary Assistant experience is preferred.
Proficiency in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring.

Responsibilities

Restrain pets.
Triage incoming patients.
Collect and analyze laboratory samples.
Perform diagnostic imaging.
Manage and provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability.
Administer medications.
Communicate treatment plans effectively to clients.
Prepare for and assist with surgery.
Manage anesthesia.
