About The Position

Modern Animal is hiring a Veterinary Assistant for its Walnut Creek clinic. The role works hand-in-hand with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to provide care to patients. The assistant supports appointments, diagnostic and laboratory work, and other medical procedures, while communicating with pet owners and contributing to clinic upkeep and local membership growth. Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Assistant.
• Strong work ethic.
• Forward-thinking and curious.
• Ability to collaborate as a team player.
• Excellent client communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle and restrain pets for examinations.
• Record accurate medical records using appropriate veterinary terminology.
• Assist medical team members with appointments, X-rays, laboratory work, and other procedures.
• Complete laboratory work as needed.
• Perform radiology with an understanding of appropriate fields.
• Complete medical calculations as needed.
• Understand commonly used veterinary medications.
• Clean and maintain the clinic as needed.
• Collaborate closely with doctors of veterinary medicine and coworkers.
• Communicate discharge instructions to owners.
• Act as a Modern Animal brand ambassador and implement local marketing efforts to grow the clinic’s membership base as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the team leader.
• Contribute to an environment of continuous learning, improvement, and excellence.
