About The Position

Boulder Veterinary Hospital, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, is looking for an experienced full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our Team! Boulder Veterinary Hospital opened in 1941 with a mission to provide quality, compassionate, and progressive pet care in Boulder, CO and surrounding areas. Since then, our veterinarians have helped countless companion animals live longer lives with the families who love them. We are a full-service small animal hospital providing excellence in care for dogs and cats. Our goal is to provide our patients with excellent, compassionate veterinary care in a professional yet comfortable environment. Our veterinarians and staff understand the special role clients’ pets play in their families.

Requirements

  • 2 years of previous experience of veterinary is preferred.
  • Competency with PIMS and reference laboratories
  • High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
  • Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology.
  • Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively.
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from veterinarians and senior staff members.
  • Compassionate nature and genuine love for animals.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate clearly and with intention
  • Communicate with clientele about medications, treatments
  • Maintain an atmosphere of personal and professional growth and support amongst employees
  • Assist with DVM and technician appointments, including but not limited to: Check in patient, record TPR and adequate history in a timely manner
  • Carry out treatments as directed by DVM, including but not limited to: Patient restraint, Vaccines, Ear cleaning, Nail trims, Anal gland expressions, Subcutaneous injections, Cephalic blood draws/heartworm tests, Cytology preparation, Fill prescriptions
  • Enter all charges accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain cleanliness in exam rooms, laboratory, treatment area, and kennels
  • Support front desk team by checking clients in/out, answering phone calls, etc as needed
