About The Position

As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping animals receive the medical care they need while supporting a team dedicated to improving the lives of pets and the people who love them. Whether you're assisting with surgeries, providing hands-on patient care, administering medications, or helping animals recover and heal, your work will have a direct impact on thousands of animals each year. You'll support our veterinarians and veterinary team by providing compassionate medical care and ensuring high standards of treatment for animals in our shelter and surgery programs.

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
Ability to read, write, communicate effectively, perform basic math, and solve routine problems

Nice To Haves

Previous animal handling experience
Experience in a veterinary clinic, shelter, or animal care environment

Responsibilities

Assisting veterinarians during examinations and treatments
Safely restraining and handling animals during medical procedures
Administering medications and treatments as directed
Calculating medication dosages accurately
Monitoring and communicating patient status and medical concerns
Assisting with surgical preparation, patient recovery, and post-operative care
Maintaining accurate medical records and entering data into shelter software
Cleaning kennels and providing daily animal care
Restocking medical and surgical supplies
Assisting with humane euthanasia procedures when necessary
Working collaboratively with shelter staff, volunteers, and other departments to support positive outcomes for animals
