About The Position

Pet Medical Center of Pasco is hiring an experienced Veterinary Assistant. This role offers the opportunity to build skills, work with an amazing team, and see a wide variety of patients, from puppies to parrots, dogs and cats to birds, reptiles, and other exotic pets. The hospital is growing and has recently welcomed its eighth veterinarian, with busy surgery and dentistry schedules. The team takes great medicine seriously without taking themselves too seriously, fostering a supportive environment for learning and fun.

Requirements

  • One to two years of veterinary assistant experience preferred
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain a Washington Medication Clerk License (training provided)
  • Confidence with patient handling, venipuncture, radiographs, and surgical assistance, or a strong desire to continue developing those skills
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Compassion for patients, clients, and teammates
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain active throughout the day
  • Team-first mindset with a commitment to continuous learning

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and dental procedures
  • Obtain patient histories, assist with patient handling, and provide compassionate nursing care
  • Perform venipuncture, radiographs, laboratory sample collection, and in-house diagnostics
  • Assist with surgical preparation, anesthesia support, and patient recovery
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed
  • Educate clients regarding medications, preventive care, and treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate medical records and patient documentation
  • Work with a wide variety of patients, including companion animals, birds, reptiles, and other exotic species
  • Collaborate with teammates to provide exceptional patient care every day
