Requirements
- Experience as a Veterinary Assistant.
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
- Proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques.
- Ability to perform basic diagnostic procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in Low-Stress Handling, Fear Free, or AAFP Cat-Friendly.
- Experience with veterinary practice management software.
- Familiarity with RACE-approved courses.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and credentialed technicians in providing medical care to animals.
- Perform diagnostic procedures, including radiology and laboratory tests.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients, including monitoring vital signs and administering fluids.
- Educate pet owners on animal care, treatment plans, and preventative health measures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Assist with surgical procedures, including anesthesia monitoring and post-operative care.
- Perform general animal husbandry, including feeding, grooming, and cleaning of kennels and examination rooms.
- Handle animals safely and compassionately, utilizing low-stress handling techniques.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
