Requirements

  • Experience as a Veterinary Assistant.
  • Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
  • Proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques.
  • Ability to perform basic diagnostic procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Low-Stress Handling, Fear Free, or AAFP Cat-Friendly.
  • Experience with veterinary practice management software.
  • Familiarity with RACE-approved courses.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and credentialed technicians in providing medical care to animals.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures, including radiology and laboratory tests.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients, including monitoring vital signs and administering fluids.
  • Educate pet owners on animal care, treatment plans, and preventative health measures.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Assist with surgical procedures, including anesthesia monitoring and post-operative care.
  • Perform general animal husbandry, including feeding, grooming, and cleaning of kennels and examination rooms.
  • Handle animals safely and compassionately, utilizing low-stress handling techniques.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
