Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
VCA Wyoming Animal Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join its team of veterinary professionals. The hospital provides compassionate, high-quality care for dogs and cats of all ages, including wellness care, dentistry, surgery, and treatment and management of illness and injuries. The team emphasizes collaborative care and a low-stress environment for patients and their families. The role involves supporting veterinarians in managing cases, diagnosing and treating pets, and assisting with surgery and dentistry. It also includes helping pet owners understand their animals’ health and care, providing nursing care, and contributing to a supportive team environment. The position is full-time, scheduled for 30–40 hours per week, and pays $18–$21 per hour. The listed benefits are subject to qualifying associate eligibility.
Requirements
- Provide quality patient histories and caring nursing care.
- Be proficient in venipuncture and radiology.
- Enjoy client communication and education.
- Be comfortable running and monitoring anesthetic procedures.

Responsibilities
- Take quality histories for patient cases.
- Provide caring nursing care to patients.
- Work with doctors to manage cases and help diagnose and treat pets of all ages.
- Assist with surgery and dentistry for preventive care and treatment of more serious issues.
- Communicate with and educate clients about their pets’ care.
- Run and monitor anesthetic procedures.
- Provide compassionate support to clients dealing with changes in an older pet’s health or an injured pet.
