About The Position

Londonderry Animal Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and support staff to provide animals with high-quality, compassionate care. The role supports examinations, treatments, and surgeries, helps maintain a safe and sanitary clinic, and contributes to a positive experience for pet owners. This is a full-time position averaging 30–35 hours per week. The hospital is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The hourly salary is $16.75–$17.50, based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting.
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
