About The Position

Central Saanich Animal Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team! Our clinic is located in the heart of the beautiful Saanich Peninsula. We see a wide variety of creatures, including dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, reptiles and even fish! We believe in providing our staff with all the tools, resources, benefits, and support required to not only take care of their patients, but also to take care of themselves. Our hospital is open 5 days a week and offers a consistent schedule that does not include any on call time and very minimal overtime. We encourage you to apply regardless of your experience level. If you are a newer tech, we are happy to start you off in our mentorship program with one of our experienced techs until you are comfortable. This position includes a range of responsibilities directly contributing to the efficient and effective daily operation of the hospital. The ideal candidate will have veterinary experience but this is not mandatory for the right candidate. A veterinary assistant certificate would be an asset. Your primary responsibility will be to assist our veterinarians and Registered Veterinary Technicians with various tasks and treatments, including patient handling, patient care, client communication and hospital maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment for our patients and pet parents
  • Create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients
  • General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of reception area, pet holding areas, treatment rooms and common areas
  • Willingness to learn more regarding veterinary services, updated medical office procedures and assisting the Veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
