About The Position

Central Hospital for Animals is an AAHA-accredited practice that has provided high-quality service to southern Illinois for over forty-five years. We specialize in dentistry, preventative care, reproductive medicine, and exotic pets. Our facility is stocked with the latest innovations in animal health, offering full laboratory and pharmacy service in-house. Our parent hospital is a leading referral site for orthopedic and joint repair, along with more involved surgeries, enabling us to get our clients the help they need efficiently. Our goal is to give the pets of Marion happy, healthy lives. We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This is a full-time and part-time position. Our hours of operation are Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm, with availability for some Saturdays 8am-12pm.

Requirements

Minimum of 1-year experience preferred

Nice To Haves

Proficient in sample collection
Obtaining medical histories
Processing laboratory tests and radiographs
Anesthesia monitoring

Responsibilities

Pet restraint
Triage incoming patients
Collection and analysis of lab samples
Diagnostic imaging
Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
Administration of medications
Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
Surgical preparation and assistance
Anesthetic management
