About The Position

Salty Paws Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and help keep patients safe, comfortable, and well cared for. The position is full-time, with a four-day work week and no weekends. Salary is competitive and based on experience. The hospital is a well-established Yorktown veterinary clinic whose Fear Free team prioritizes animal well-being, low-stress patient care, and client satisfaction. Fear Free certification and annual recertification are paid for by the hospital. The role offers opportunities for professional development in a supportive team environment. Veterinary technician licensure is welcome but not required.

Requirements

Experience in animal handling and restraint.
Knowledge of veterinary terminology.
Passion for animal care and well-being.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to become Fear Free certified; certification is paid for by the hospital.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift an unspecified weight with assistance.

Veterinary technician licensure is welcomed but not required.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians during examinations.
Handle and restrain patients using Fear Free techniques during treatments.
Assist with laboratory procedures and diagnostic tests.
Monitor vital signs and report abnormalities to the veterinarian.
Educate pet owners on proper animal care.
Keep examination rooms and treatment areas clean and organized.
Perform other responsibilities as needed based on hospital needs and the employee’s experience, training, certifications, credentials, and assigned responsibilities.
