About The Position

Veterinary Emergency Services of Lincoln is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their team for overnight shifts. This is an after-hours emergency practice that has been serving the community since 2005, offering a caring, family environment. They provide comprehensive care including emergency surgery, in-house diagnostics, digital radiology, ultrasonography, and medical urgent emergent services. The practice operates Monday through Friday from 6 pm to 7 am, and from Saturday at 12 noon to Monday at 7 am, as well as on holidays. The role offers opportunities for virtual and hands-on training and continuing development.

Requirements

A minimum of 2 years experience as a veterinary assistant or technician.
A high work ethic and positive attitude team member.
Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work.
Weekend and overnight availability required.
Compassionate and calm team-player.
Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner.
Proficient in assisting with sample collection- include blood, urine, and fecal collection.
Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests.
Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs.
A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency.

Responsibilities

Pet restraint
Triage incoming patients
Collection and analysis of lab samples
Diagnostic imaging
Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
Administration of medications
Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
Surgical preparation and assistance
Anesthetic management
