About The Position

Vineyard Veterinary Clinic, a 3-doctor practice serving Edgartown, MA since 1977, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant. The clinic cares for dogs, cats, and exotics, offering a mix of general practice and urgent care during the summer season. Requirements

Minimum of 1-year experience preferred
Local to Martha's Vineyard with year round housing - required
Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
Must be able to properly restrain pets
Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset
Verification of authorization to work in the U.S. in accordance with federal law (Form I-9)

Nice To Haves

Proficient in sample collection
Obtaining medical histories
Processing laboratory tests and radiographs
Anesthesia monitoring

Responsibilities

Pet restraint
Triage incoming patients
Collection and analysis of lab samples
Diagnostic imaging
Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
Administration of medications
Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
Surgical preparation and assistance
Anesthetic management
