About The Position

Maplewood Veterinary Center is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and support staff to provide animals with high-quality care. The role supports examinations, treatments, surgeries, laboratory testing, medication administration, animal handling, client communication, and clinic cleanliness. The center focuses on compassionate, preventative, and wellness care and aims to provide a friendly, welcoming environment that supports the human-animal bond. It is committed to a culture that celebrates diversity and provides inclusive service to the community. The schedule is four days per week, Monday–Friday, from 7:15 AM to 5:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch break and no weekend hours. The stated salary is $17–$20 per hour, based on skills, experience, and qualifications.

Requirements

At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
Surgical experience.
Technical know-how in disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian.
Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
