About The Position
Join our veterinary hospital as a full-time Veterinary Assistant and become a teammate of our animal healthcare team! Requirements
- Confidence with anesthesia monitoring, dental cleanings, and radiography without supervision besides the attending Veterinarian
- Strong animal handling skills with the ability to safely restrain patients of all temperaments for examinations and procedures
- Knowledge of diagnostic imaging positioning and laboratory diagnostics
- Proficiency with venipuncture including IV catheter placement and blood draws
- Experienced with medication administration (PO, SQ, IM, and IV) and vaccine administration
- Knowledge of prescription medications to effectively instruct clients with home care instructions
- Excellent attention to detail in monitoring patients and maintaining medical records
- Effective communication skills with team members and clients
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- At least two years of experience with venipuncture and administering IV, IM, and SQ injections
- Proficient computer skills for maintaining electronic medical records
Nice To Haves
- Anesthesia monitoring and dental experience is preferred
- Associate degree in veterinary technology or continuing education in veterinary science a plus
Responsibilities
- Handle, restrain, comfort, and reassure animals of all temperaments.
- Assist with treatments, diagnostics, and surgeries; monitor patients; maintain records.
- Maintain cleanliness, organize facilities, and ensure a sanitary environment.
- Relay patient updates and ensure care continuity among the team.
- Communicate care plans, instruct home treatment to clients, and guide medication use.
