About The Position

Shadow Hills Pet Clinic is looking for an experienced Part Time veterinary assistant. Shadow Hills Pet Clinic is a long-standing general practice hospital with deep ties to the community, located in beautiful Sun Valley, California. Our goal is to provide compassionate and quality medicine while striving to make an impact in our community and treat our patients/clients like family. The ideal candidate would be compassionate towards our patients and clients. Be confident in rooming patients, assisting in surgery, monitoring surgery patients, surgical recovery, drawing blood and running bloodwork, placing IV catheters, knowledge of x-ray and proper positioning, experience with in-clinic laboratory equipment, comfortable with proper animal handling and restraint, understanding the importance of client education and is a positive and supportive team player. A positive and motivating attitude is a must. Requirements

  • 2-3 years of prior veterinary experience in a clinical setting
  • Surgical assisting experience
  • Drawing blood and running bloodwork
  • Placing IV catheters
  • Knowledge of x-ray and proper positioning
  • Experience with in-clinic laboratory equipment
  • Comfortable with proper animal handling and restraint
  • Understanding the importance of client education
  • Positive and supportive team player
  • Obtaining accurate and thorough medical histories
  • TPR
  • Assisting doctor and other technical staff with restraint
  • Blood draws (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
  • Placing IV catheters
  • Digital radiology including positioning
  • Dentistry (digital x-rays, scaling, polishing)
  • Anesthesia (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)
  • Laboratory skills such as ear and fecal cytology; HM5; Vetscan; Sedivue
  • Excellent client communication & education
  • CSR duties as assigned
