About The Position

Londonderry Animal Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to work with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality, compassionate animal care and customer service. The role assists with examinations, treatments, surgeries, laboratory work, animal handling, medication administration, client communication, and maintaining a clean, safe clinic.

This is a full-time position averaging 30–35 hours per week. The hospital is open Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m., and Friday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Pay is $16.75–$17.50 per hour, based on skills, experience, and qualifications.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is required.
• Technical know-how in disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.
