We are currently looking to hire a Full-Time Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves animals and being part of a fun, supportive team. American Animal Hospital aims to provide owners with sound, honest choices for their pets and to provide our patients with excellent and compassionate medical care. Requirements
- 1+ years of veterinary experience (preferred)
- Saturday availability
- 8-hour shifts
- Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
- Passion for working with animals and their owners
- Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
- Understands the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
- Obtaining accurate and thorough medical histories
- TPR
- Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or technician preferred
- Proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and medical procedures
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices
- Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- Experience with animal catheterization is a plus
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment is beneficial
- Experience in pet grooming or pet sitting is a bonus.

- Surgical assisting experience and knowledge of equipment used
- Drawing blood and running bloodwork
- Knowledge of x-rays and proper positioning
- Experience with proper animal handling and restraint

Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
- Perform routine procedures such as vaccinations, blood draws, and dental cleanings
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals during procedures and treatments
- Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
- Perform laboratory tests and analyze results
- Maintain accurate records of patient care and treatment plans
- Provide compassionate care to animals and their owners
- Rooming patients
- Surgical assisting
- Drawing blood and running bloodwork
- Proper animal handling and restraint
- Client education
- Assisting doctor and other technical staff with restraint
- Blood draws (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
- Placing IV catheters
- Digital radiology including positioning
- Dentistry (digital x-rays, scaling, polishing)
- Anesthesia (monitoring, aseptic technique)
- Laboratory skills such as ear and fecal cytology; HM5; Vetscan; Sedivue
