About The Position
DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistants (Level 2) to join our brand new Appointment-Based Surgery team. As an Appointment-Based Surgery Veterinary Assistant Level 2 (SX VA2), you will provide high-quality patient care while supporting a positive client experience. In this role, you will support veterinarians and technicians by assisting with orthopedic and other surgical procedures, including scrubbing in as needed, serving as a circulating assistant to maintain OR flow, retrieving supplies during procedures, assist with OR cleaning, and instrumentation. You will also care for patients during post-extubation sedation/anesthesia recovery, assist with orthopedic radiographs, recheck appointments, discharge post-operative patients, and assist in answering client questions as needed. A genuine love of and respect for all animals is required, as is an appreciation of the human-animal bond.
Requirements
- 1+ year working as a veterinary assistant, or a combination of experience working in the veterinary field and current enrollment in an AVMA accredited tech program.

Nice To Haves
- Preferred minimum of one year emergency or other specialty small animal care experience.
- Any suitable combination of experience or education may substitute for the above.
Responsibilities
- Assist with orthopedic and other surgical procedures, including scrubbing in as needed.
