Veterinary Assistant - Triage
About The Position
BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant for their Triage team. This role involves the intake and triage of incoming patients, client communication and education, performing consistent rechecks, and charting vital sign trends. The Veterinary Assistant will work closely with the intaking doctor to ensure prompt and proper patient care, manage the hospital census, and maintain open communication to minimize wait times and maximize patient flow. Responsibilities also include stocking and cleaning, and monitoring waiting/exam room clients.
Requirements
- Knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant
- Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.
Nice To Haves
- Comfortable taking vitals, including accurately counting heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
Responsibilities
- Intake and Triage of Incoming Patients
- Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.
- Comfortable taking vitals, including accurately counting heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
- Client communication and education
- Perform consistent rechecks, chart vital sign trends and client updates.
- Constant communication with intaking doctor to ensure prompt and proper patient care
- Stocking and cleaning as needed
- Monitor the waiting/exam room clients; assist with refreshments/marketing materials; update clients on wait time/patient status
- Maintain open communication with the doctor and technical staff to minimize wait times and maximize patient flow regarding long wait times
- Manage Cornerstone/Instinct hospital census
