About The Position

Animal Medical Center is seeking a Part-time Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist to join their team. This role supports both clients and the medical team in a fast-paced, progressive companion animal practice. Responsibilities include managing the reception area, client communication, scheduling, processing payments, and providing emotional support. Clinical duties involve pet restraint, sample collection and analysis, assisting with diagnostics and surgery, administering medications, and communicating treatment plans. The role requires comfort in a medical environment with potential exposure to strong odors, loud noises, animal waste, and risks of bites, scratches, or contagious diseases. Ongoing training opportunities are provided for skill development.

Requirements

  • 1 year of veterinary assistant experience required
  • Compassionate, calm, and professional demeanor
  • Strong communicator and team player
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable using computer systems and practice management software
  • Able to properly restrain pets safely and confidently
  • Experience with sample collection, obtaining medical histories, and processing laboratory tests and radiographs
  • Blood draw experience (leg and jugular) and catheter placement required
  • Familiarity with back-of-house lab procedures and workflow

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of veterinary receptionist experience preferred
  • Anesthesia monitoring experience is a plus
  • Self-starter with a desire to continue growing knowledge and advancing skillsets
