About The Position

Burlington Veterinary Center (BVC) is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist to join our growing, progressive hospital. This dual-role position is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with clients, caring for patients, and staying engaged in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. We’re a multi-role, team-based hospital where team members are cross-trained and may move between reception and clinical areas throughout the day. Requirements

Previous veterinary assistant or veterinary reception experience is preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organization and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and shift priorities in a fast-paced environment
Comfort moving between front-desk responsibilities and hands-on patient-care support
Compassionate and professional client service skills
Confidence working with pets and their families
A dependable, adaptable, and team-focused approach
Positive attitude and willingness to jump in wherever needed
Desire to learn, develop new skills, and grow professionally
Genuine passion for helping pets and the people who love them

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during wellness and sick-patient appointments
Obtain accurate patient histories and communicate relevant information to the medical team
Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients
Prepare exam rooms for appointments and procedures
Assist with basic laboratory tasks within your training and responsibilities
Support patient care and treatment as directed by the medical team
Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked clinical areas
Help keep hospital workflow efficient throughout the day
Welcome clients and patients with warmth, professionalism, and compassion
Answer incoming phone calls and assist clients with questions and requests
Schedule and coordinate appointments
Check clients and patients in and out of the hospital
Process payments accurately and efficiently
Maintain accurate client and patient information
Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners
Coordinate communication between clients, veterinarians, technicians, and other team members
Help create a positive, organized, and efficient client experience from arrival through checkout
Float between reception and clinical areas based on hospital workflow and team needs
Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, receptionists, and hospital leadership
Support overall hospital operations and daily workflow
Communicate effectively when transitioning between client-service and clinical responsibilities
Jump in where needed to support teammates, patients, and clients
Contribute to a positive, efficient, and team-focused hospital culture
