About The Position

Weymouth Landing Cat Clinic is hiring a Veterinary Assistant & PM Boarding Attendant. This is a full-time position with a salary of $20-$21 per hour, working 4 days per week afternoons/evenings with occasional weekend boarding shifts. The role involves running appointments, assisting veterinarians and technicians, administering medications, handling feline patients with an emphasis on reducing stress, providing evening care for boarding patients, monitoring patients, performing venipuncture, collecting samples, obtaining radiographic images, operating laboratory equipment, performing nursing care, maintaining cleanliness, and communicating with clients and team members. Accurate record-keeping and client confidentiality are essential. The ideal candidate will have empathy, a willingness to learn, a desire to work with cats, commitment to low-stress handling, strong multitasking and organizational skills, and a collaborative mindset.

Requirements

  • Previous veterinary experience is a plus, but a willingness to learn is even more important

Responsibilities

  • Run appointments alongside veterinarians and support efficient patient flow
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by the veterinary team
  • Handle and restrain feline patients confidently and compassionately with an emphasis on reducing stress
  • Provide diligent evening care for boarding patients, including feeding, cleaning, comfort, and observation
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for boarding patients
  • Monitor patients closely and report changes in behavior, health, or condition
  • Perform venipuncture and collect patient samples
  • Obtain high-quality diagnostic radiographic images
  • Operate in-house laboratory equipment and assist with diagnostic testing
  • Provide attentive daily nursing and patient care
  • Maintain clean and organized treatment and patient-care areas
  • Keep laundry and other essential hospital tasks moving throughout the day
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients and fellow team members
  • Follow task-based worklists to ensure responsibilities and communications are completed
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client and patient records in the practice management system
  • Protect client confidentiality and follow hospital policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, client care specialists, and other team members to maintain an efficient workflow and high standard of care
