About The Position

Avenue of the Saints Animal Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Veterinarian to join their growing, AAHA-accredited practice in Charles City, IA. This is an opportunity for a visionary individual, with potential for leadership roles, to contribute to a practice that has recently moved into a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. The hospital is expanding its services and is looking for someone passionate about providing high-quality veterinary medicine and compassionate client service. The role offers a clear path to a Managing DVM position for the right candidate, supported by a strong team and a leadership philosophy that values input and professional growth. Mentorship is available for both experienced veterinarians and new graduates.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
Appropriate state licensure.
Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Nice To Haves

Experience in large animal services (infrastructure is in place to add this service).
Desire to step into leadership roles.

Responsibilities

Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
Maintain patients’ medical records.
Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
