About The Position

This role at CareVet of Hebron offers a customizable first-year compensation package of up to $200K, based on experience, with options for a higher guaranteed base salary, a larger signing bonus, or a combination of both. The hospital is currently a 1 DVM (Medical Director) practice, providing an opportunity to work closely with leadership and help shape its future. The position involves a mix of wellness, sick visits, and surgery, supported by strong technician and support staff. It is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys autonomy while being supported by an experienced team. CareVet of Hebron is a relationship-focused small animal practice prioritizing quality medicine and a sustainable work environment, avoiding high-volume, high-pressure scenarios. New graduates receive structured mentorship, while experienced DVMs can enjoy autonomy and influence medical approaches. The practice emphasizes appropriate appointment pacing, collaborative case discussion, reliable technician support, predictable scheduling, work-life balance, and a respectful, collaborative environment, with no weekend hours.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
  • Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
  • Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
  • Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
  • Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
  • Strong fondness and understanding of animals
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of animal behavior
  • Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals

Responsibilities

  • Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
  • Treat and dress wounds
  • Perform surgery on animals
  • Test for and vaccinate against diseases
  • Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
  • Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
  • Prescribe medication
  • Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care
