About The Position
Monroe County Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary hospital in Monroe County, Tennessee, treating both large and small animals. Our goal is to provide local pet owners with the most beneficial animal health care possible, supported by a caring staff that provides attention and tenderness. We are committed to continually upgrading and maintaining our knowledge, equipment, and facilities to enhance our health care services. We are seeking an associate veterinarian to join our family-feel practice. Whether your passion is small or mixed animal medicine, our well-trained support staff is ready to assist you. Our diverse client base will be receptive to your treatment plans because they want the best care for their pets. We have two large animal trucks for farm calls. An experienced doctor will thrive in our practice, and we offer a perfect work-life balance with flexible part-time or full-time schedules. The practice is located just outside Knoxville in rural Sweetwater, TN, offering a great lifestyle for those who love the outdoors.
Requirements
- DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
- Appropriate state licensure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with small or mixed animal medicine.
- Experience with large animal medicine (implied by large animal trucks).
Responsibilities
- Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
- Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
- Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
- Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
- Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
- Maintain patients’ medical records.
- Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
